Artist profile
Cristian Blanco (1985) is an Argentine artist who explores painting through the visual language of filete porteño, a traditional Buenos Aires decorative art recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. His work has been exhibited in cities across Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Italy, and the Dominican Republic, and is held in private collections worldwide. From 2015 to 2022, Blanco was a member of the Asociación de Fileteadores, where he served as Secretary. He also teaches workshops and seminars internationally. Driven by his commitment to preserving and sharing this craft, he founded El Club del Filete, the first virtual academy dedicated to filete porteño. His artistic practice examines its compositional memory and ornamental elements, exploring questions of identity, decoration, and the relationship between art and craftsmanship.
