Artist profile
Hameed Al-Qahtani is a Qatari ceramic artist and mechanical engineer. He came to clay on his own in 2019, learning on the wheel, and went on to found Ceramic Cube, a pottery studio in Doha where others can find what he found: that a lump of earth answers the hand that works it. His practice sits between his two trainings. Engineering gave him structure, repetition and an understanding of how material behaves under heat and time. Clay gave him the rest. He works mostly with the vessel, the object that holds and is passed between people. In 2025 he travelled through Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara with the Museum of Islamic Art's Ektashif programme, and the works from that journey were shown at MIA in 2026. The vessels he brings to QIAF are wheel-thrown and then worked by hand: ribbed, carved, cracked and stamped, so each surface keeps the record of the hand and the time that made it.
