Artist profile
Imad Saaid is a contemporary visual artist based in Baghdad. Working within Postmodernism, his practice is rooted in Magical Realism — a fusion of academic precision and Iraqi symbolism. His work explores the duality of human and animal. Woman and child appear as embodiments of earth and fertility, while animals — the rooster, the wolf, and the goose — emerge as archetypes of power, vigilance, and awakening. His landmark work Tigris and Euphrates (120 x 170 cm) is part of the permanent collection of Al-Wasiti Hall. His most recent series, The Girl and the Wolf, is distinguished by hyper-real figures set against vibrant, stained-glass geometric backgrounds.
