Melania Elena Barreras Espinosa

Artist profile

As a Mexican visual artist, I have found in painting my most honest form of expression. Through painting, I preserve emotions, memories, and the people I love. Although I was drawn to creating from an early age, my artistic journey truly began in high school when I discovered oil painting under the mentorship of Gonzalo Curiel. Since then, my work has explored identity, nostalgia, emotional connection, and the beauty of the human body as the home of our stories. Over the years, I have created more than 30 paintings, participated in numerous exhibitions, and was a finalist in the national VibrArt competitions in 2023 and 2024. I also founded Dalí, the first visual arts student organization at my campus, and organized a hybrid art gala featuring nearly 450 artworks by young artists from across Mexico. Through every painting and initiative, I strive to inspire others to embrace their creativity and discover the transformative power of art.
