Artist profile
Nawar Dakkak is a Palestinian architect and multidisciplinary creative practitioner from Jerusalem whose work explores place, memory, identity, and collective life. Trained in architecture at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, her practice moves between architecture, urban research, visual storytelling, and artistic experimentation. She is particularly interested in landscapes shaped by displacement, erasure, transformation, and the persistence of cultural memory. Her work begins with traces embedded within a place—ruins, paths, materials, vegetation, and everyday rituals—and explores how they can become tools for imagining new narratives. Through drawing, mapping, collage, and spatial compositions, she examines the relationship between people, land, memory, and belonging, seeking to make overlooked histories visible through contemporary expression.
