Artist profile
Visual Artist Born in Tulancingo, Hidalgo, Mexico, in November 1975, he is a self-taught artist whose work focuses on wrought-iron sculpture. His primary inspiration is everyday life and the magic that permeates it. Cold, inert iron is transformed into static motion, reflecting emotions through his creations. He has participated three times in the Salerno Contemporary Art Biennale in Italy, and his work has been exhibited in galleries in Venice, Naples, Sicily, Bordeaux (France), Cali (Colombia), and Pleasanton (California). His motto has always been: "One must forge dreams to create realities." Onesimo Avila—through the strike of his hammer against the anvil and the heat of the forge with the metal glowing red-hot—expresses his worldview and his vision of the universe in unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, as the unpredictable nature of the fire renders each one distinct.
