Artist profile
My artistic journey began from a deep belief that disability is not inability. As a Deaf artist from Rwanda, I discovered that although I can't hear, art gives me a powerful voice to communicate, connect with people and share stories without barriers. I studied Art and Design at Kyambogo University in Uganda, where I developed my skills in painting, pottery, beadwork & creative design. After graduating, I founded Kigali Deaf Art Gallery in Rwanda to create opportunities for Deaf youth artists to develop their talents, earn an income & be recognized for their creativity. One of my greatest achievements is seeing Deaf artists gain confidence, skills, & opportunities through KDAG. Our work has reached audiences in Rwanda & internationally, including participation in the International Deaf Festival in France, where we represented Africa through our art. What drives my creativity is the desire to show the world that Deaf people have talent, ideas, and the ability to contribute to society.
